Sky Sports duo Simeon Gholam and David Prutton take a look ahead at Good Friday in the Sky Bet Championship, predicting the results of every fixture; listen to the podcast below or via any of your regular podcast providers.
Blackburn vs Ipswich, 5.30pm – Live on Sky Sports Football
Blackburn can’t buy a win, even with John Eustace in charge, and they are sailing far closer to the bottom three than they would look. It is so close down there, but they head into Good Friday just three points off the relegation zone. And so much can change so quickly this weekend.
Tom Cleverley enjoyed a decent start in charge of Watford, winning his first game as interim boss. But Leeds are a very different proposition to Birmingham City.
Daniel Farke’s side went top of the Championship before the international break, a feat that seemed unthinkable not too long ago, but they have been utterly relentless. They’ll have to sit and watch the rest of the action unfold on Good Friday before heading out at Vicarage Road, but they are too good right now not to get the job done.
Prediction: 1-2
Huddersfield vs Coventry, 3pm
It was a bright start for Andre Breitenreiter at Huddersfield, but they haven’t really been able to build any momentum since, and head into Good Friday the wrong side of the dotted line.
Coventry have an FA Cup semi-final on the horizon! But there is work to be done in the league. They are still well in the play-off race and should be even closer to that top six with a win at the John Smith’s.
Prediction: 0-2 (Sky Bet odds)
QPR vs Birmingham, 3pm
Due to a difficult string of games, QPR hasn’t been able to overcome their position in the bottom three as much as they would have hoped. And the match between 20th and 21st at Loftus Road is huge.
In light of their recent success, Birmingham took the required step to bring in Gary Rowett till the conclusion of the season. That ought to provoke a reaction of some kind, and I’ll support them in their endeavor to draw.
Prediction: 2-2 (Sky Bet odds)
Sheffield Wednesday vs Swansea, 3pm
Although Sheffield Wednesday has lost its last two games, it is important to keep in mind that they were likely playing against the two greatest clubs in the league at the time. Nevertheless, Danny Rohl should have erased the memory of the 6-0 loss at Ipswich during the intermission.
Swansea clearly had a big game against Cardiff, but they won brilliantly. From there, can they get some momentum? Since the Owls need it more than the Swans do, I believe this will be a point.
Prediction: 1-1 (Sky Bet odds)
