The Tractor Boys have been busy these past few days at Suffolk Town, both on and off the field, getting ready for an important run of Championship games.

Before Easter weekend, Kieran McKenna’s team is one spot outside the automatic promotion spots in the second division. Leicester City is ahead of them on goal differential, but they still have a game in hand.

In an attempt to maintain their lead in the table, the Suffolk team will play two games in a row on Good Friday and Easter Monday, respectively, against Blackburn Rovers and Southampton.

Championship Table (As it stands March 28th)
Team P GD Pts
1 Leeds United 38 42 82
2 Leicester City 37 41 82
3 Ipswich Town 38 31 81
4 Southampton 36 26 73

In front of the exciting EFL football weekend, let’s examine the most recent developments involving the promotion-chasers.

Over the past two seasons, McKenna has established himself as one of the Football League’s most sought-after players after leading Town from League One to the top of the Championship table.

The Northern Irish manager has received a lot of praise for his efforts at Portman Road, and it is rumored that he was previously linked to West Ham, Brentford, and Crystal Palace, among other teams. The former Manchester United youth boss has also been linked to Crystal Palace.

Darren Bent, a former striker for Ipswich, believes that the latter of the three might make a move in the summer, particularly if McKenna is unable to lead his team to victory in the fight for Premier League football.

On Ben Foster’s YouTube channel, Bent stated: “That’s the main concern. He has been outstanding, and if IPSWich doesn’t increase I believe that a lot of people would be interested in him. West Ham under David Moyes might be possible. There are tons of alternatives.

Moyes is rumored to have received a new contract offer from the Hammers, but he plans to make a decision at the end of the current campaign. This might open the door for McKenna to join the team in the summer.

Not only English teams are rumored to be interested in the 37-year-old; sources in Germany suggest Stuttgart may be planning a move for the Town manager in the event that current manager Sebastian Hoeneß leaves in the summer.

Brandon Williams may still feature for Ipswich before the campaign comes to a close, with McKenna providing an update on the Manchester United loanee this week.

The fullback returned to Old Trafford in January for medical assessments, having featured in 15 league matches before the end of 2023, but hasn’t featured for the Tractor Boys in the current calendar year.

After reportedly suffering setbacks in his recovery, the Town boss has stated that a return to Portman Road before the end of the season isn’t out of the question as it stands.~certain level of readiness for him to come back here and be ready to contribute.

“If he doesn’t reach that readiness before the end of the season, then he won’t return. If he was able to reach that readiness, then it would be another option for us towards the end of the season.
