Celtic should look at signing Serbian international defender who wins nearly all his tackles this summer –

Brendan Rodgers took a lot of stick when the January transfer window closed for not signing a left-back as cover or as a challenger to Greg Taylor. The Scottish international fullback has no real competition for his place at Celtic and it was an area of the team that has been left exposed time and again in the Champions League and even domestically. Taylor has been superb for Celtic but, like any other player, he needs someone to challenge him for his position. Someone to keep him on his toes and push him in training so that Brendan Rodgers gets the best out of him come matchday.

With Alexandro Bernabei now out of the club, Taylor has the Celtic jersey indefinitely. And Whilst young Mitchel Frame has impressed recently, it’s too early to be putting first-team pressure on the youngster. So how does Rodgers remedy this without wasting the kind of money we saw splurged on the likes of Bernabei? Here is my suggestion and he could be available on a free transfer at the end of the season. The Serbian international left-back plays for Akhmat Grozny in the Russian Premier League. He is a two-time Serbian Cup winner and Serbian league title winner. He has made 21 appearances for his club this season and whilst he is predominantly a left-sided full-back, the 27-year-old can also slot into the left of midfield. He has also earned one cap for his country. [Transfermarkt] In his 21 appearances this season, the defender has made 28 tackles with a success rate of 87.5%. Bogosavac has also won 101 duels and made eleven interceptions. The Serbian international has also made 107 ball recoveries, won back possession five times and only been dribbled past on 12 occasions so far this season. As far as defenders go, those stats are not too bad and available for free at the end of the season, the financial risk is small compared to what he could add to both the squad and Greg Taylor’s game in terms of competition.
