‘Total Embarrassment’ – Chris Sutton rages after Rangers announcement today

Rangers: Sutton rages over 'embarrassment' prior to Dundee clash

Chris Sutton is outraged, calling Rangers’ Premiership meeting with Dundee a “absolute shambles” after it was called off so close to kickoff.

Philippe Clement’s team were supposed to play at Dens Park on Sunday (17 March) but the game was postponed following a second pitch inspection by referee Don Robertson less than two hours before the match was meant to kick-off.

Both players and supporters had already travelled to the stadium and now face a return trip to Glasgow as a result of the late call, which Sky Sports pundit Sutton described as a “total embarrassment”.

On Sunday (17 March), he wrote on X that the Dundee Rangers game was called off an hour and a half before kick-off, causing embarrassment for the Scottish top division.

“What a catastrophe this has turned out to be. Don Robertson, the referee, arrives at 1020 for a pitch inspection. Making a decision sooner would be wiser…”

Has Rangers’ match vs Dundee FC been called off?

Scotland’s officials have faced criticism for a number of reasons, including questionable decisions during major matches and poor call-making before to games.

After footage of the initial pitch inspection at Dens Park surfaced, it was evident that the pitch was unfit for play today, and it didn’t need another hour and a second inspection by the referee to make the final decision.

The Scottish Premiership is supposed to be a well-known competition, but the standards north of the border are nothing short of absurd. These late postponements are typical of Sunday competition football, which is not a professional competition.

As Sutton stated, the entire process leading up to Sunday’s game was disgraceful, and efforts must be made to prevent this type of futile exercise from occurring on a weekly basis, particularly at Dens Park.
