Coventry City’s manager, Mark Robins, has led the team to another successful season in the Midlands.Coventry City’s Transfer Plans

After reaching the play-off final last season, there was speculation that the Sky Blues might return, but this was always going to be difficult, since crucial duo Gustavo Hamer and Viktor Gyokeres both went for large prices in the summer. While the cash raised were used to sign several high-profile players, including Ellis Simms and Haji Wright, it is important to note how tough it is to replace two crucial players.

But, the reality for Coventry, and virtually all Championship clubs, is that you have to be prepared to wheel and deal, so another busy window could be on the horizon.

Of course, the excitement for fans will be on who they can bring in, but here we look at TWO players who could be sold on for a fee this summer…

Ben Wilson

Robins has the luxury of having two perfectly fine Championship goalkeepers at his disposal, with Ben Wilson and Brad Collins both vying for the top spot.

They’ve both played on a regular basis, and while the keepers have made the occasional error, they’re both generally trustworthy, to the point that you get the impression Robins is at ease with whoever plays.

However, whether this is sustainable has to be seen, and a significant decision may be imminent. As it stands, Collins should get the nod because he has started the most recent games and is four years younger than Wilson, making him a superior long-term option.

As a result, Wilson may attempt to go during the summer transfer window, and Coventry would be unlikely to stand in his way if he was looking for regular first-team play.

The 31-year-old will have one year left on his contract at the end of the season, so this is his final opportunity to be paid. It may not be the largest sum, but it will be sufficient to enable them to locate an acceptable replacement for Collins.

Coventry traded Viktor Gyokeres for a club record amount last season and may reap even more dividends. With the 26-year-old under contract until the summer of 2026, Coventry won’t be concerned about losing Sheaf on the cheap, but Premier League clubs do have the financial resources to make significant offers, and their resolve may be tested.Although losing the talented midfielder would be disappointing, it demonstrates Coventry’s success in the market. If Sheaf is sold, the recruitment team should be trusted to find a suitable replacement.
