Sheffield Wednesday take on Ipswich Town in the Championship on Saturday, and Town boss Kieran McKenna might be paying close attention to one Owls player. Sheffield Wednesday have another tough assignment on Saturday afternoon when they travel to 3rd place Ipswich Town in the Championship. Both teams saw winning streaks come to an end in the last round of fixtures with Wednesday losing 2-0 vs Leeds United and Ipswich Town losing 2-1 to Cardiff City. David Prutton has predicted an Ipswich Town 2-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday. Danny Rohl‘s Wednesday sit in 23rd place of the table whilst McKenna’s Ipswich could leapfrog Leeds United in 2nd with a win. There’s a few players in the spotliPORTWIOght for the game at Portman Road on Saturday. Sheffield Wednesday defender Dominic Iorfa looks set to start against his former club, whilst former Owls midfielder Massimo Luongo looks set to start for Ipswich. Marvin Johnson may also be a name in the spotlight today; Ipswich Town tried and failed to sign Johnson in January, seeing a bid close to £1million knocked back. The left wing-back was exiled by Xisco Munoz at the start of the season but has since come back into the fold under Rohl, featuring 22 times in the Championship with three goals and four assists to his name.

Johnson’s resurgence under Rohl has been one of the stories of the season for Sheffield Wednesday. Munoz’s initial decision to oust him from the first-team was bizarre at the time, and now with Jonson flourishing under Rohl, that decision seems even more so. He brings a huge amount of creativity and quality to the side with the left flank now being a real outlet for the Owls in games. And at 33 years old, Johnson is showing no signs of slowing down either, bombing up and down the left and playing 90 minutes every week now. But there’s been definite interest from Ipswich in Johnson, and what’s more is that Johnson may well be one of the players out of contract in the summer. He previously signed a one-year extension and it’s not known how long he remains under contract at Hillsborough. So if the Owls end up being relegated this summer, Johnson will surely seek a new Championship club and if Ipswich don’t earn promotion then they could eventually get their man for nothing. So expect McKenna to have an eye on Johnson’s performance with the Town boss surely keen to see the impressive wing-back in action with his own eyes.
