Breaking NEWS:Everton and Nottingham Forest points deduction: Wyness rages at what he’s heard about new hearings

Wyness rages at what he's heard about Everton & Forest hearings

Keith Wyness has stated that if Everton or Nottingham Forest are relegated after the season, the Premier League will be a “laughing stock”.

On Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old CEO of Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009, who now operates a football consultancy advising elite teams, stated that the present financial laws are “not fit for purpose”.

Everton had already been docked six points (down from ten after an appeal) for violating Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR) this season.

The Toffees and Nottingham Forest are now facing separate charges, with any punishment set to be added to their 2023-24 point totals.

The Premier League is ‘running out of time’ to punish Everton, argues Wyness.

With 10 games remaining, Sean Dyche’s side leads 18th-place Luton by four points, while Forest trails the Hatters by three points.

On Football Insider’s Insider Track podcast, Wyness stated: “My understanding is this…”I assume the hearings were held both last week and this week.

“According to the calendar, any appeals must be heard in the final week of the season, or potentially the week after the season ends.

“That would be ludicrous.

“The league will be a laughing stock since relegation may be decided after the season is over.

“We’re running out of time. It was created by the Premier League itself.

“If all of these appeals are granted, which is entirely possible, it will be even more frustrating.

“There’s also the fact that new rules are coming into place, which clearly shows that the current set of rules are not fit for purpose.”
