John Hartson has selected two Celtic players he believes will be crucial for Brendan Rodgers in the title race over the next several weeks.During his appraisal of Sunday’s triumph over Livingston, the former Celtic hero praised Daizen Maeda and Kogo Furuhashi.Celtic’s Maeda scored a hat-trick and Kyogo scored the fourth goal in a 4-2 triumph. Hartson emphasised their importance to Brendan Rodgers.Hartson stated on [The Go Radio Football Show], “He took his goals very, very nicely. It will boost his confidence. We know what he offers to the squad.”He was also present on the weekend, scoring when and where he needed to. He took his goals really well and will be a key contributor.”Kyogo will be an important player and I think Brendan needs to use his squad.”Both players contributed significantly to Celtic’s success during Ange Postecoglou’s two seasons as manager.Kyogo has 50 goals and 10 assists, while Maeda has 19 goals and 12 assists as the Australians won five of six titles, including an unprecedented treble at the end of last season.
His constant pressing and harrying of opponents are just as important as his goals and it is so valuable to the Celtic team.There is no doubt that both have yet to find the form that the Celtic fans enjoyed during the Postecoglou era but the fans will be hoping that the pair are now starting to find their groove as we head into the final nine games of the season.
