Nicolas Otamendi insists there is no Ibrox fear factor for Benfica ahead of facing Rangers. The Portuguese giants were frustrated in their attempts to take the lead from the home leg and bring it over to Glasgow this week and as a result there are hopes Philippe Clement’s men can see the job through and qualify for the Europa League quarter-finals.
Ibrox is often billed as an intimidating venue where even the biggest of sides can crumble. Indeed, we’ve seen evidence of it handing the Light Blues an advantage in recent years. But the Argentine World Cup winner has been there and done it in the game and is adamant he and his teammates can go to Govan and enjoy themselves instead of feeling any pressure. The former Manchester City star said: “We enjoy such atmospheres. It’s beautiful to play in these atmospheres. It’s good for us and we should play without fear. “It’s important that we win for our own mindset and for the rest of our season. For us, it’s important to win. We should be enthusiastic and calm.” Manager Roger Schmidt is under pressure with supporters not happy with a run of results, including that home draw in the first leg.
