Former Ipswich Town boss Roy Keane is being linked with a sensational return to management in the Championship. Sky Sports pundit Keane, who led the Blues between April 2009 and January 2011, is the new favourite to take over at Sunderland, the club he led to the Premier League in 2007. The Black Cats are without a boss, having sacked Michael Beale last month, just 12 games into his reign. He’d replaced Ipswich Town legend Tony Mowbray in the hot seat.

Under temporary manager Mike Dodds, Sunderland has dropped to 12th place in the Championship standings after losing six straight games. Scott Parker and Steve Cooper complete the top five. After leaving Town, Keane hasn’t managed a team, however he has served as an assistant at Aston Villa, Nottingham Forest, and the Ireland national team.
