Lions’ Jalen Reeves-Maybin elected as Nflpa President Pride of Detroit

The Board of Player Representatives has chosen Jalen Reeves-Maybin, an All-Pro linebacker for the Detroit Lions, special team player, and two-time captain, to be the new NFLPA President. This post has a two-year term that ends in 2026. Reeves-Maybin can run for reelection if he so chooses. Reeves-Maybin stated in an NFLPA press statement, “I am honored by the trust that the Board has shown in me and I will work hard to be a voice and advocate for all players.” “I look forward to encouraging more players to use their voice in advocating for the union and our game. My mission will be to continue serving and uniting our membership.” Reeves-Maybin will succeed JC Tretter, who stepped down from the role after four years, having served on the NFLPA Executive Committee for the previous two seasons. In a statement, Tretter wished Jalen luck on his election. “I have no doubt that he will carry on the incredible tradition of player leadership in order to fulfill the union’s mission of serving players from all eras.” Along with numerous other NFL players in significant positions within the NFLPA, Reeves-Maybin will collaborate closely with NFLPA Executive Director Lloyd Howell, who also issued a statement regarding Reeves-Maybin’s nomination. Howell remarked, “I would like to congratulate Jalen on being elected as the new president of the NFLPA.” “Jalen will be a great leader for our union, dedicated to our players’ needs and our player-driven agenda. I’m forward to collaborate with him in-depth throughout the upcoming years.
