Ipswich Town is probably going to try to offload the centre forward in the summer.

Gassan Ahadme: Cambridge sign Ipswich striker on season-long loan - BBC Sport

With Gassan Ahadme only playing six competitive games for Ipswich and several loan moves away, a permanent move in the summer may be ideal.

Over the last few years, Ipswich Town have seen a great deal of expenditure and success.

Ipswich has added a number of players since Gamechanger 20 Limited acquired them in April 2021, which enabled them to earn promotion to the Championship last season following a four-year hiatus.

Since his debut in December 2021, Kieran McKenna has performed admirably, leading them back to the second division in his first full season.

The Tractor Boys want to become the first team since Southampton ten years ago to win back-to-back championships in their first season back in the Championship.

They are presently in second place and might play Premier League football in the upcoming season after ten games.

However, a number of players, like striker Gassan Ahadme, have suffered as a result of their success.

Ahadme started out unconvincingly

Ipswich Town General Portman Road

After moving from Spain, he began his career with Ipswich’s fierce rivals, Norwich City, briefly loaning him to Real Oviedo B.

He played the first half of the 21/22 season at Portsmouth, where he had his first loan in England. Only five league games would he play for Pompey until he permanently moved to Burton Albion in January 2022.

He quickly moved to his current team, Ipswich, arriving in September 2022, after netting three goals in 14 league games during the second half of the season.

But he hasn’t gotten anything done since moving to Ipswich.

He appeared in six league games in the first half of his rookie campaign, although he was scoreless. Despite having only left four months earlier, he was sent back to Burton on loan, and even though the Brewers managed to survive, he managed to score once in seven league games.

He has returned to League One on loan this season, this time to Cambridge United. With 24 appearances in all competitions this season, he has already played more than any other player.

Ahadme needs a permanent move away from Ipswich

Outside Portman Road

Ahadme needs to get off Portman Road permanently, and soon.

If given a leading role up front, he has proven this season that he possesses the skills to be one of the best strikers in League One.

He has scored seven goals for the U’s in 20 league appearances this season, including five in his final four games prior to suffering a foot injury.

Ahadme, who is 23 years old, has frequented far too many various clubs and hasn’t established a permanent residence.

Even if they stay down, Ahadme won’t get much of a look in because Ipswich already have a wealth of attacking alternatives in players like George Hirst and Ali Al-Hamadi.

It will take some time for him to leave because his contract does not expire for another season.

He’s already seen that Cambridge is a team he could play for. His aerial skills are unmatched, and he began to improve there just before he got hurt.

Gassan Ahadme’s 23/24 stats (league only, as of 08/03/24, as per FotMob)
Appearances 20
Minutes 1398
Goals 7
Assists 0
Shots per 90 2.83
Shots on target per 90 1.09
Touches in opposition box per 90 5.09

He proved to be a real threat to many League One centre backs, winning 9.53 duels on average and 6.76 aerial duels on average.

Ahadme is a player with a lot of potential, so a permanent move would be advantageous for all sides.
