Callum McGregor’s condition has been under discussion by Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers since the midfielder was unable to play against Hearts last week.
The Bhoys captain was sent for a scan to identify the source of the problem after missing the Tynecastle loss due to a possible calf/Achilles injury.
Sadly, Rodgers notes that the scan was not entirely definitive, and McGregor is still scheduled to miss time until after the international break.
Weeks of absence for Callum McGregor at Celtic
When asked for an update, the Bhoys’ manager responded, “Yeah, it was inconclusive really,” [Celtic FC YouTube]. Regardless, we had decided that he would miss out until the international break and then proceed accordingly.
“He travelled for the scan, but it didn’t actually reveal anything. We’ll evaluate it during the ensuing few weeks.
“Really, we just need to observe how that feels on a daily basis.”
Luis Palma is a doubt for Celtic vs Livingston
In the meantime, Rodgers revealed at his press conference that winger Luis Palma has sustained an injury and might not play in Sunday’s Scottish Cup match against Livingston.
This season, the Honduran has made 23 appearances for Celtic, contributing nine assists and six goals.
He was not played in the team’s trip to Hearts last weekend, though, and has been reduced to the substitutes bench in recent weeks.
Due to Hyunjun Yang’s ban, Nicolas Kuhn, the winter signing, may get another chance to shine this weekend.
In order to support striker Adam Idah, Kyogo Furuhashi may possibly start in a wide position alongside Daizen Maeda.
