Caitlin Clark, a guard for the Iowa Hawkeyes, submitted her WNBA Draft declaration on February 29. She’s already significantly influencing Indiana Fever ticket sales and fan excitement in the squad for the upcoming season, more than a month before she can even be selected.

Clark is one of the most decorated players in collegiate basketball history and recently established the all-time scoring record for the conference. She is the current John Wooden Coach of the Year, Naismith College Player of the Year, and AP Player of the Year.

With Iowa being one of the favourites to win the national championship, she and the Hawkeyes are getting ready for March Madness, but anticipation for her WNBA debut and one of the most eagerly awaited rookie seasons in years is growing.

With the third-worst record in the previous season’s WNBA rankings, the Fever had the highest odds (44.2%) of taking home the first overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft. The WNBA, in contrast to the NBA, determines lottery chances based on the sum of the records from the previous two seasons.

On December 10, 2023, Indiana was given the first overall pick in the draft lottery, making them the number one pick for the second year in a row. Even though Clark’s senior season was just getting started, everyone immediately considered her to be the number one pick in the WNBA Draft.

The Fever haven’t exactly concealed their interest in Clark, even if they haven’t revealed who they plan to take with the first pick. In the instant following the Hawkeyes legend’s draft declaration, Indiana released a statement.

Season tickets and group tickets for the Fever are currently on sale, but team representatives are advising supporters to act fast as they are selling out at a record pace.

In addition, Vivid Seats recently revealed that, as a result of the excitement around Clark, the average ticket price for a Fever game in the upcoming season has more than doubled from $60 to $140. The lowest priced ticket on StubHub for Indiana’s May 16 season opener is $359, while some are going for over $1,000.

A significant surge in season ticket requests and purchases has also been reported by the Fever, however official figures were not released. On March 1, Whitney Medworthy of Hoem Field Apparel said that the lower level season tickets were already sold out.

There will be a lot of excitement for the WNBA in Indiana going ahead when Clark is officially drafted by Indiana. She will be joined by forward Aliyah Boston, who was the first overall pick in 2023, as the new stars of the Fever.
