Scotland’s Premiership winners, Celtic, are aiming to loan out Alexandro Bernabei while he’s in South America in an effort to clear their schedule and make payroll room for the potential signing of Caoimhin Kelleher.
HITC Football is aware that Alexandro Bernabei’s exit is a good thing for a side trying to make some bench player cuts as Celtic looks to recruit the custodian who won the EFL Cup two weeks ago thanks to his heroic effort.
The £4 million signing from Lanus is still unquestionably second choice at Parkhead behind fellow left-back Greg Taylor, despite his increased playing frequency recently.
Alexandro Bernabei may leave Celtic today.
HITC is aware that Bernabei is not part of Brendan Rodgers’ long-term intentions. Additionally, sources close to Celtic have confirmed that the 23-year-old has arrived in South America as he approaches a loan move. The Argentine is probably headed for Brazil’s Internacional.
The Brazilian transfer window closes tomorrow, March 7. Therefore, presuming that’s where Bernabei is finally headed, Internacional will need to move quickly if they wish to sign the all-action wideman before the deadline expires.
Whether Bernabei’s departure will make it easier for Kelleher to arrive in the summer will take some time to ascertain. The Ireland international is Celtic’s top pick to replace player Joe Hart, who has retired.
HITC is aware that Ugurcan Cakir, the captain of Trabzonspor and a Turkish superstar, is also under consideration. However, Celtic have been keeping up with Kelleher for some time.
However, the talented caretaker won’t come cheap, both in terms of salary and the likely transfer cost. Kelleher’s contract with Anfield has two years left on it. Following his outstanding display at Wembley against Chelsea, Liverpool colleague Virgil van Dijk referred to him as “world-class.”
Odsonne Edouard, who cost £9 million to sign with Celtic in 2018, is currently the most expensive player in team history. He was acquired from Paris Saint-Germain.
Two of Hart’s other goalkeepers, Scott Bain and Benjamin Siegrist, are likewise uncertain about their futures north of the border.
Liel Abada should accompany Bernabei out the door. The MLS team Charlotte FC has signed an agreement for the Israel international that is estimated to be valued somewhat less than £10 million.
