Ally McCoist, who expressed concern, has advised Rangers supporters not to get too excited about the team’s league-leading position. He acknowledged that both Celtic and Philippe Clement’s team were uneasy at the top of the Premiership.
Celtic was given the opportunity to go up to the top of the standings when they traveled to Tynecastle following the Light Blues’ Saturday setback at the hands of Motherwell. But Hearts had other ideas. With the Scottish title race coming down to the wire, Rangers are now two points behind their rivals after losing 2-0 to Brendan Rodgers’ team.
Speaking on the talkSPORT Breakfast Show, host Jeff Stelling expressed his confusion by the defeat of both Glasgow giants on the same weekend and questioned Ibrox legend McCoist about the match that took place north of the border. With the first line, former Sky Sports host Stelling said, “Both beaten on the same weekend Coisty…” McCoist responded, “Oh, I had it written down but it’s the first time that has happened in years.”
“And there did appear to be a lot of controversy over penalties, handballs, and sending offs during Celtic’s match versus Hearts. However, based on what I saw over the weekend, it doesn’t appear like either of them will feel at ease at the top. They seemed impoverished to me.”

Then Stelling doubted the two giants’ quality. He asked “It does beg the question that Celtic and Rangers compared to other years, are these the worst Old Firm teams?”
Indeed, based on the basis of what we have observed thus far, McCoist stated. Even when they don’t look their best, you have to be fair. What you do get, though, is genuine excitement, and this one looks like it will go all the way, Jeff.
