Motherwell vs. Rangers: Philippe Clement provides an Oscar Cortes injury report and returns two others

In advance of Saturday’s match between Rangers and Motherwell at Ibrox on March 2, Philippe Clement has provided an update on his injuries.

Rangers wait for news on Oscar Cortes' muscle problem

The goal for the Gers is to hold onto or increase their two-point advantage over Celtic, who play against Hearts the next day.

Oscar Cortes, a January signing, will be sidelined by Rangers due to an injury he suffered during the team’s 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock in midweek.

Ryan Jack is also available, but Kemar Roofe is back in the mix after missing the Killie victory because of pitch-related issues.

Despite a near-accident last time out, Tom Lawrence is also available, as Clement stated at Friday’s (1 March) press conference.

Rangers waiting on more details regarding Oscar Cortes’s injury

Cortes is waiting to consult a specialist, and Clement said that it is unknown when he will be able to resume his activities.

Rangers are concerned that, with the international break approaching, the 20-year-old may now need to miss a significant amount of time on the sidelines.

Since arriving at Ibrox in January on a first loan with the option to buy from Lens, Cortes has had a great debut.

With the recent thumping of Hearts, the young player scored a goal and provided an assist, and if not for this setback, it appeared that he would establish himself as a regular under Clement.

However, Cortes’ absence gives other wingers a chance to shine, and under Clement, the fringe players have typically done just that.

Rangers

Lawrence, Roofe, Jack, and other available players give Clement plenty of options at every position.

Since the games are coming thick and fast right now, Clement will undoubtedly run into issues with injuries and bans in the final few months of the season.

But as we’ve seen since Clement arrived, the Belgian is capable of handling any challenge. And there’s no reason that won’t hold true this coming weekend.

In other Rangers news, during the January transfer window, a number of Russian teams made an attempt to sign a player.
