Lee Evans, a former midfielder for Ipswich Town, has signed a contract with League One leaders Portsmouth through the end of the season.
The 29-year-old’s contract was terminated by mutual consent, and he left the Blues at the beginning of February. Evans was a vital player in the early part of Kieran McKenna’s reign, but in October of last year, he had surgery to address his recurring knee issues.

“We’re delighted to welcome Lee to the club and boost our midfield options for the remainder of the campaign,” the Pompey manager stated. He has a long history of championship success and has been promoted out of this league before, most notably with Ipswich the previous season.”Lee is a very skilled football player who can be both physically present in the middle of the park and at ease with the ball at his feet.”
He arrived at Portman Road on a free transfer from Wigan in the summer of 2021 and played in 61 games overall. His contributions to the Blues’ League One second-place finish last year helped them return to the Championship after a four-year hiatus.
He will work with Will Norris, a former Town loanee who is currently Fratton Park’s first-choice goalkeeper.
