BREAKING NEWS: Rangers: Andy Walker makes ‘complacent’ Celtic title admission in Philippe Clement verdict

Philippe Clement’s Light Blues currently sit two points clear of the Hoops at the top of the table after 28 matches, having enjoyed an exceptional upturn in form since the Belgian took over from Michael Beale at Ibrox. Despite the Gers’ current lead, Sky Sports pundit Walker still expects Celtic to lift the title this year and thinks their recent dominance in Scotland will be the difference between the two sides. Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (29 February, 21:50) he said: “The most important man at Rangers is undoubtedly Philippe Clement and I don’t think you can say the same about Celtic because Brendan Rodger wanted players and didn’t get them. “I just think in general, Celtic have been complacent as a club and they’ve underestimated Rangers and they should have been able to see the uplift in their form since Clement has come in. “We’re now on a countdown of games and it could go either way. It’s almost like a toss of a coin. I think I still lean towards Celtic because they’ve done it so often, they’ve done it before.

Rangers manager Philippe Clement

“They’ve got a strong group of winners, but Celtic as a club have underestimated Rangers.” ln the last few weeks, it has felt as though almost every pundit has tipped Rangers to break Celtic’s dominance and win the title this term, but Walker has stuck to his Celtic allegiances and has made his thoughts clear. While the Hoops have been poor for so much of the season, they showed that they can still be remarkable when they turn it on and that was clear to see in their 7-1 win over Dundee on Wednesday (28 February). However, Clement’s Rangers side seems to consistently find a way to win, no matter how poor they have performed in matches. That is a good habit to have as a side and could well be enough to push the Gers to the top of the table. While the Light Blues are in pole position at the moment, a lot can change very quickly in football and this title race will almost certainly go down to the wire given the impressive resources available to both these teams.
