NHL insider David Pagnotta revealed that contract talks between the Toronto Maple Leafs and defenseman Jake McCabe have stalled. Negotiations began during the offseason, but no significant progress has been made. McCabe, who is in the final year of his four-year, $16 million contract, is set to become an unrestricted free agent in July 2025. However, McCabe has expressed his desire to remain with the Maple Leafs, citing his love for the city and team. Meanwhile, NHL analyst James Mirtle suggested that McCabe could be in line for a contract worth around $5 million per season if extended, with a potential four- or five-year term.
