Breaking News:Ben Sheaf sends clear demand to Coventry City supporters

Coventry City midfielder Ben Sheaf has expressed his gratitude to the fans for their continued support and urged them to stick by the team despite a disappointing start to the season.

After narrowly missing out on the play-offs last season and almost reaching the FA Cup final, there was a lot of optimism for this campaign, with promotion being the goal. However, the Sky Blues have managed only two wins from their first 11 games, and last night’s 1-1 draw against QPR saw the team slip into the relegation zone.

Currently, Coventry sits in 22nd place in the Championship table with nine points, just above QPR and Portsmouth.

Following a frustrating 1-0 defeat at Preston on Saturday, where manager Mark Robins was seen talking to an unhappy away crowd, the draw at QPR offered some hope but extended the winless streak. This has increased the pressure on Robins, though Sheaf took to Instagram to thank the fans who traveled to London and encouraged them to “stick with us.”

Despite the poor form, Coventry’s squad is still viewed as talented, with a mix of experience and quality. Much of the responsibility lies with Robins, who has earned significant credit for his impressive work with the club over the years. Sheaf emphasized that this challenging period requires unity and that the team needs to focus on securing wins to climb out of the relegation zone.

As a senior player, Sheaf acknowledged his need to step up, especially after missing time earlier in the season due to injury, which contributed to the team’s struggles. With several players capable of performing at a higher level, the goal is to quickly turn things around.

While Coventry is aware of the need to improve, there should be perspective. This is the first real setback the club has faced under Robins, who has proven to be a great manager for the team. Despite the pressure, there’s hope for a turnaround, similar to last season’s slow start that eventually led to success.

Coventry’s next match is at home against Luton Town on Saturday, where they’ll be looking for a crucial win to kickstart their season.
