Jules Bianchi is indeed the most recent Formula One driver to have been fatally injured, following a crash during the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix. Bianchi, aged 25 at the time, lost control of his car during a caution flag period, colliding with a recovery vehicle that was removing another car from the track. This tragic incident resulted in severe head injuries, and despite months in a coma, Bianchi passed away on July 17, 2015, in a hospital in Nice, France. His death marked the first fatality in Formula One since Ayrton Senna’s crash in 1994 . Bianchi’s accident prompted significant discussions about safety in the sport, leading to the introduction of the Virtual Safety Car system to prevent similar incidents. His legacy continues to shape conversations around driver safety in motorsport.
