Crystal Palace may now be open to selling an “extraordinary” player in January for just £13 million, with Oliver Glasner’s team setting a winter price for potential buyers.
Oliver Glasner under pressure after Crystal Palace’s winless start
The Eagles have failed to secure a victory in their first seven Premier League matches, increasing the pressure on Glasner following a disappointing beginning to the season.
Crystal Palace targeting 26-year-old after failed contract negotiations
He has previous experience playing in England…
Glasner’s appointment earlier this year generated a lot of anticipation at Selhurst Park, given his successful managerial stint with Eintracht Frankfurt. Journalist Dean Jones initially predicted that the 50-year-old would introduce a modern, attacking style of play along with a stronger physical presence.
“I believe Glasner will establish himself by introducing a physical approach at Crystal Palace and likely bringing a more modern attacking strategy than they have had recently,” Jones told GiveMeSport.

That transformation won’t happen overnight. The current squad isn’t well-equipped for immediate change, but it’s expected to receive investment come summer. Based on his track record in Germany and insights from those familiar with his coaching style, many believe that Glasner is a promising choice for Crystal Palace.
“After the fan protests and claims of lacking ambition, this might turn out to be a positive move.”
The departure of Michael Olise to Bayern Munich has made things more challenging, but Palace is still expected to perform better and secure more points. They missed chances to win against newly promoted Leicester City, a struggling Everton, and an underperforming West Ham. If this trend continues, Glasner could face the risk of being dismissed, despite chairman Steve Parish wanting to grant him more time.
The upcoming months before the January transfer window will be crucial for Palace, as Manchester United is preparing a “big bid” for Adam Wharton, and star forward Eberechi Eze is reportedly considering a move away from Selhurst Park.
Crystal Palace open to selling Ismaila Sarr for £13 million
One player they are reportedly open to selling is Ismaila Sarr, who joined the club over the summer.
The former Watford winger moved to Palace in a £12.5 million deal from Marseille and has featured in all of their Premier League matches so far, though his only start came in the recent 1-0 loss to Liverpool.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness), AC Milan is interested in the Senegalese international, and Palace is willing to let Sarr go in January for around €15m (approximately £13m). This price is considered feasible for Milan, as Paulo Fonseca’s team searches for new wide players. While Sarr hasn’t made a big impact in the Premier League since his return, his impressive displays for Watford and positive feedback from former colleagues suggest he may just need more time to adjust to his new environment.
“He’s going to become a very big player,” said Jean-Louis Gasset, former interim manager at Marseille.
“He has pace and can maintain his intensity. He just needs to refine his finishing, but we don’t have the time to focus on that. He’s an extraordinary young man.”
