Breaking:Maple Leafs jump out to big lead, hold on to beat Devils

The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the New Jersey Devils 4-2, with Steven Lorentz leading the charge with a goal and an assist. Toronto’s rookie goaltender Dennis Hildeby made 22 saves, securing his first NHL win in his debut. Max Pacioretty, Bobby McMann, and John Tavares also scored for the Leafs.

Despite goals from Jesper Bratt and Timo Meier, the Devils struggled on the power play, converting just one out of five opportunities. Toronto’s defense was a key factor, blocking 27 shots. This victory continued the Leafs’ dominance over the Devils in New Jersey, extending their road winning streak against the Devils to eight games.

This game marked the home debut of Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe, who previously coached the Maple Leafs. The Devils will face the Washington Capitals next, while the Leafs will host the Pittsburgh Penguins.
