Steven Pressley, one of the rare players to have featured for both Celtic and Rangers, has revealed why he holds his time at Celtic Park in higher regard. Signed by Gordon Strachan in 2006, Pressley joined Celtic at the age of 32, marking the final stages of his career. Over two seasons, he made 22 appearances, winning two Scottish Premiership titles and a Scottish Cup.

Reflecting on his time at both clubs, Pressley explained that his appreciation for Celtic grew as he was able to win trophies at a later stage of his career. The former Scotland international noted that while his four-year spell at Rangers was significant, it was the age and timing of his move to Celtic that made it particularly special.

Despite originally planning a move to Charlton in England, Pressley changed course after Strachan’s persistence and his family situation. The defender went on to captain Celtic, contribute to their historic Champions League campaign, and become the only player to win the Scottish Cup with three different clubs.

Now at Brentford, Pressley cherishes his impactful, albeit brief, time at Celtic, where he helped the club achieve key successes both domestically and in Europe.
