Breaking News: Marko explains cause of Red Bull power struggle.

Red Bull’s advisor Helmut Marko has shed light on the evolving power dynamics at the team following the death of co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz in October 2022. Mateschitz, who was known for his hands-on leadership and willingness to take risks, left a significant void within the organization, which is now being restructured.

Oliver Mintzlaff, the new managing director of Red Bull, has taken on responsibility for overseeing various ventures, including Red Bull Racing. However, Marko was clear in stating that team principal Christian Horner remains in charge of the day-to-day operations of the reigning Formula 1 champions.

Marko explained that despite rumors earlier in the season of a power struggle between himself and Horner, the team is united in its focus on maintaining its championship-winning form. He acknowledged that while there have been adjustments following Mateschitz’s passing, the details of the new structure are still being worked out.

Marko also commented on Jos Verstappen’s public remarks regarding the team’s internal struggles, admitting that while those comments were unhelpful, the team addressed them and realigned their focus on winning. Marko emphasized that providing Max Verstappen with a winning car remains a top priority, noting that performance-related clauses in top drivers’ contracts, such as Verstappen’s, could see them look elsewhere if they aren’t competitive.

As Red Bull continues to push for more titles, the team is navigating these changes while aiming to deliver the best possible package for Verstappen and the rest of their drivers.
