Breaking News:Premier League ‘misled’ clubs over legal case, insist Man City

Manchester City has accused the Premier League of misleading clubs regarding the outcome of a legal case concerning the league’s rules on associated party transactions (APT). City challenged the Premier League’s interpretation of the tribunal ruling, which addressed the legality of rules regulating clubs’ commercial deals with related parties.

In a letter to the other Premier League clubs, City’s general counsel Simon Cliff stated that the league’s summary of the ruling was “misleading” and contained “several inaccuracies.” Cliff further emphasized that the tribunal declared the APT rules unlawful, which, according to City, renders all APT rules void since their introduction in 2021.

City also criticized the Premier League’s push to introduce new APT rules within 10 days, arguing that the original consultation process was rushed and flawed, leading to rules that were anti-competitive. The recent tribunal ruling supported City’s concerns.

Wolves were one of the clubs that reportedly provided a statement supporting the Premier League’s rules in the case against City.
