“A great aspiration”: Ipswich Town is urged to pursue an international striker in the summer transfer window.

Kieran McKenna: Ipswich Town defending from set plays must improve - BBC Sport

With how well Kieffer Moore’s second stay at Portman Road is going, FLW’s Tractor Boys fan commentator want to see him return long-term.

Ipswich Town made it five straight wins on Saturday, continuing their stellar play as they defeated Plymouth Argyle 2-0.

Ipswich Town is still working towards promotion.

Although Kieran McKenna’s club had had an incredible start to the season, a mid-season stumble allowed Leeds and Southampton to catch up, and many observers believed they would run out of gas in the race for a top two finish.

But thanks to their convincing victory at Home Park and Leeds’ draw at Huddersfield, they are back on track. Ipswich now sits in second place.

Championship Table (As it stands March 3rd)
Team P GD Pts
1 Leicester City 35 40 78
2 IPSWICH TOWN 35 25 75
3 Leeds United 35 37 73
4 Southampton 35 24 70
5 West Brom 35 18 59
6 Hull City 35 7 56

The upcoming months will undoubtedly see a lot of football played, but there will be hope for the Tractor Boys that they can persevere.

Kieffer Moore from AFC Bournemouth should be signed permanently by Ipswich Town.

Although this incredible run has been the result of a true team effort, Kieffer Moore’s presence has undoubtedly given the Green Bay Packers a significant lift.

With his goal against Argyle, the 31-year-old striker who signed on loan from Bournemouth during the winter window made it five goals in seven games.

As a result, there is already discussion among the supporters about Moore’s tenure being extended into the conclusion of the season. Additionally, FLW’s Ipswich fan pundit Henry has stated categorically that the Suffolk team’s first objective going forward should be to retain Moore.

“It appears to be a very admirable goal,” Henry said to Football League World.

“He arrived, fit the role, and performed flawlessly. His inclusion in the side has coincided with his improved form.

“I believe you can probably lay a lot of blame on George Hirst’s injury and the lack of a like-for-like replacement for the pre-Christmas form—the one win in nine.

“Unfortunately, (Freddie) Ladapo and (Kayden) Jackson aren’t the type of strikers our club needs, and their calibre doesn’t quite fit where the squad wants to be.

“He’s had five goals in seven games, one assist, and excellent link-up play. In addition, he occupies other defenders and works off the ball, creating room for others.

“I think Moore has had a lot to do with Wes Burns getting back among the goals, and (Conor) Chaplin and (Nathan) Broadhead playing well.

“We should definitely look into it, that experienced player with Hirst could be quite a potent front two, if he is available, I think it would be great.”
Long-term prospects for Kieffer Moore

Despite Moore’s excellent run with Ipswich, the Cherries were content to let him go on loan during the January transfer window. It would be shocking if they didn’t approve a sale in the summer.

Andoni Iraola now has two senior options up top after Dominic Solanke had a stellar season and Enes Unal was signed as a backup.

Moore is aware that he must depart in order to receive consistent playing time, and since the target player’s contract only runs until the summer of 2025, it won’t cost a substantial amount of money to get him to leave.

From their point of view, Ipswich will wait until the summer to make any decisions, and their transfer intentions will undoubtedly be impacted by their promotion or lack thereof.
