The summer’s most anticipated announcement is now official: the 78th edition of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations will take place in the USA at Ironman Raceway from October 3-5, 2025. This will be only the sixth time the event has been hosted on American soil.

I would also like to thank the city of Crawfordsville for their support of this event, which will draw the attention of the international motocross community to the region. The MXoN is always a special event where riders compete not just for themselves, but for their countries. The pride, emotion, and intensity of this race is palpable. We anticipate an unforgettable atmosphere, with American fans and fans from around the world coming together to celebrate this amazing sport. “I’ve been a lifelong fan of the Motocross of Nations, going back to the early days of Team USA,” said Davey Coombs, CEO of MX Sports. “When our parents, Dave and Rita Coombs, hosted a 125cc U.S. Grand Prix in 1987, their ultimate goal was to one day host the MXoN. Although it didn’t happen during my father’s lifetime, we continued to support it wholeheartedly as other top U.S. tracks like Unadilla, Budds Creek, Thunder Valley, and more recently, RedBud, had their opportunity. Now, with the support of Infront and the entire Crawfordsville, Indiana community, along with our fellow promoters of AMA Pro Motocross and Monster Energy Supercross, the FIM, and the AMA, it’s finally our chance to host this prestigious event. The previous MXoN races in the U.S. have set a high standard, and we look forward to raising the bar even further next October at Ironman Raceway.”

Now the fantastic Ironman Raceway joins that prestigious list. The track is named after the late GNCC ATV Champion Bob ‘Ironman’ Sloan, who was from the area and inspired the creation of both the motocross circuit and the nearby off-road enduro facility. The surrounding land is large and flat, ideal for camping and parking, but the track itself is full of major elevation changes, featuring some of the steepest and most challenging uphill sections in American Motocross, including the famous Godzilla step-up. These features promise an exciting and challenging lap for the world’s best riders.
The USA holds the record for the most team victories in the history of the Monster Energy Motocross of Nations, with 23 wins, despite only fully joining the competition in the 1970s. The first Motocross of Nations in the USA was held at Unadilla in 1987, during a period of dominance for the American team. Additional home victories came in 2007 at Budds Creek, 2010 at Lakewood, and in 2022 at RedBud, which avenged the only American loss on home soil to Team France in 2018, also at RedBud.
Ironman Raceway has hosted a round of the AMA National Motocross Championship annually since 2014, and has served as the season finale seven times. American Eli Tomac secured his first two National 450cc titles at the venue, while Australian Jett Lawrence clinched his first two US 250cc titles there and completed his perfect 450cc season in 2023, with his brother Hunter Lawrence winning the 250cc title on the same day. KTM’s Chase Sexton also claimed his National title at Ironman this year.
MXGP fans will recognize Ironman Raceway as the site of Jeffrey Herlings’ famous double win in 2017, with other ‘Nations’ riders like Ken Roczen, Jo Shimoda, Tom Vialle, and Dylan Ferrandis also having earned victories there. Aaron Plessinger, a 2024 Team USA rider, has won twice at Ironman in the 250cc class, but Tomac and Jett Lawrence are tied for the most National wins at the circuit with three each.
