EXCLUSIVE: Rangers boss explains why Leon Balogun has played very few minutes this season

Rangers’ head coach Philippe Clement has explained the limited playing time of Nigerian defender Leon Balogun this season, citing strong performances from the starting defenders as the primary reason. Balogun, who is now 36, has played just five matches and accumulated 190 minutes in all competitions this season. Clement highlighted that Balogun remains an important squad member, training well and providing leadership, but the defensive partnership of John Souttar and new signing Dario Propper has been difficult to displace due to their form and growing connection on the field.

Clement also mentioned the importance of building chemistry within the defensive line, which includes several new players. While Balogun might wish for more minutes, the coach is also cautious about managing his workload to avoid injuries, considering his age .
