SAD NEWS: Leeds United forward reveals heartfelt message following his mother’s death after scoring for Leeds in Championship clash against Norwich City

Leeds United forward Jaidon Anthony paid tribute to his late mother, Donna, during the club’s 1-1 FA Cup draw against Plymouth. After scoring in the 31st minute, Anthony removed his shirt to reveal an undershirt with the message, “Rest in perfect peace, mum.” This emotional moment was met with applause from the crowd at Elland Road, as his teammates gathered around him to show their support.

However, following FA regulations, Anthony was shown a yellow card for removing his shirt during the celebration. This mirrored a similar situation involving Dominic Solanke of Bournemouth, who was also booked for a shirt tribute honoring Anthony’s mother in a prior FA Cup match.

Leeds manager Daniel Farke praised Anthony’s performance, acknowledging the personal significance of the goal. He lauded Anthony’s quality and technique, highlighting the emotional importance of the moment, especially after the difficult days following his mother’s passing. Anthony is currently on loan at Leeds from Bournemouth and has netted two goals in all competitions this season.
