SAD NEWS: Celtic midfielder announces his mother has died after he flew home for ‘family emergency’

Former Celtic manager and Northern Ireland captain Neil Lennon has announced the passing of his mother, Ursula, following a second heart attack. On Saturday, it was reported that Lennon had returned home from his duties as manager of Rapid Bucharest due to a family emergency. Ursula had been in the hospital for several weeks prior to suffering the second heart attack.

In a post shared via Rapid Bucharest’s social media, Lennon confirmed the sad news, stating: “My beautiful mother, Ursula, passed away this morning at 10:51.” Celtic Football Club also paid tribute to their former manager, extending their thoughts and prayers to the Lennon family during this difficult time.

Neil Lennon, 53, was appointed manager of Rapid Bucharest in May 2023 but has faced pressure from fans in recent weeks.
