Max Verstappen Rules Out Immediate Return to Nürburgring After Heartbreaking… see details in comment

Four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen has suggested that fans should not expect to see him racing again in the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Serie (NLS) anytime soon in 2026, following a series of frustrating events during his recent GT3 appearances.

The Dutch star has spent part of his season exploring endurance racing alongside his Formula 1 commitments with Red Bull. Driving for his own Verstappen Racing team, Verstappen competed in several GT3 events at the famous Nürburgring circuit, often referred to as the “Green Hell” because of its demanding layout and unforgiving nature.

His adventure in endurance racing began positively when he claimed victory in the NLS2 race earlier this year. However, the celebrations were short-lived after his team was disqualified for exceeding the maximum permitted tyre allocation. The ruling stripped the team of a hard-earned result and marked the beginning of a frustrating period for Verstappen in Germany.

The disappointment continued during the prestigious 24 Hours of Nürburgring. Verstappen and his teammates entered the legendary endurance event with high hopes after extensive preparation and strong performances in previous NLS rounds. Throughout much of the race, the team looked capable of challenging for victory and appeared to be on course for a memorable result.

Unfortunately, disaster struck in the closing stages. A technical problem severely affected the team’s chances and ultimately denied them a potential race win. After battling through nearly an entire day of competition, Verstappen and his teammates could only watch as victory slipped from their grasp in heartbreaking fashion.

The setback was particularly painful considering the amount of effort invested in preparing for the event. Verstappen had participated in NLS2 in March and NLS5 in April specifically to gain valuable experience and fine-tune preparations for the 24-hour race held in May. His commitment demonstrated just how seriously he was taking the challenge.

Despite the disappointment, Verstappen appeared to enjoy the experience of competing on one of motorsport’s most iconic circuits. His performances attracted significant attention from fans and observers, many of whom were eager to know when he would return for another attempt at conquering the Nürburgring.

However, speaking to GPFans, the Red Bull driver indicated that a return is not currently part of his plans. While he remains passionate about GT racing and endurance competition, scheduling constraints and his busy Formula 1 commitments mean further Nürburgring appearances are unlikely in the near future.

The news will disappoint many motorsport fans who hoped to see Verstappen continue his Nürburgring journey and seek redemption after the heartbreak of the 24-hour race. Nevertheless, his brief spell in GT3 competition showcased his versatility behind the wheel and reinforced his reputation as one of the most talented drivers in world motorsport.

For now, Verstappen’s focus remains on his Formula 1 campaign, while his Nürburgring chapter appears to be on hold following a memorable yet ultimately frustrating experience at the legendary German circuit.
