F1 Results Today: Barcelona Grand Prix times and positions
George Russell delivered an impressive performance in the final practice session ahead of the Barcelona Grand Prix, setting the fastest lap and giving Mercedes a significant boost before qualifying. The British driver looked comfortable throughout FP3, consistently finding pace around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and finishing at the top of the timesheets as teams completed their final preparations for the seventh round of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
The session provided teams with one last opportunity to fine-tune their setups before the all-important qualifying hour, and Russell made the most of the conditions. Mercedes entered the weekend hoping to challenge at the front once again, and the FP3 result suggested they have the speed required to fight for pole position and victory.
While Russell led the field, McLaren continued to demonstrate strong pace. Oscar Piastri secured second place, further confirming the team’s competitiveness around the Spanish circuit. The Australian has enjoyed an impressive run of form and once again looked capable of challenging for top honours. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc completed the top three after another solid session for the Scuderia.
Lando Norris finished fourth for McLaren, ensuring both papaya cars remained firmly in contention heading into qualifying. Ferrari also enjoyed a productive session with Lewis Hamilton ending FP3 in fifth position. The seven-time world champion appeared comfortable in the Ferrari and remained within striking distance of the leading times throughout the hour.
Max Verstappen placed sixth for Red Bull as the reigning champion continued to search for the perfect balance in his car. Although not at the very top of the timing screens, Verstappen remained close enough to the front-runners to suggest he could still be a major factor later in the weekend. Mercedes championship leader Kimi Antonelli finished seventh after encountering traffic during some of his quickest laps, limiting his chances of improving further.
The remainder of the top ten featured Isack Hadjar in eighth place, Nico Hulkenberg in ninth for Audi, and Arvid Lindblad rounding out the top ten. Several midfield teams showed encouraging pace, with the battle behind the leading squads appearing extremely tight heading into qualifying.
Elsewhere, Gabriel Bortoleto finished 11th ahead of Liam Lawson in 12th. Alpine drivers Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto occupied 13th and 14th respectively, while local favourite Carlos Sainz ended the session in 15th place for Williams. Haas duo Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman were 16th and 17th, followed by Alex Albon in 18th.
The final four positions were occupied by Sergio Perez, Fernando Alonso, Valtteri Bottas and Lance Stroll. Alonso, racing in front of his home crowd, struggled to extract maximum performance from his Aston Martin during the session and will be hoping for a stronger showing when qualifying begins.
