Monaco Grand Prix Enters a New Era with Historic Name Change Ahead of 2026 Season
One of Formula 1’s most iconic events is preparing for a significant transformation after officials confirmed that the Monaco Grand Prix will carry a new title from the 2026 season.
The race, which has been a cornerstone of the Formula 1 World Championship for decades, will officially be known as the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco. The change follows a new partnership involving Formula 1, the Automobile Club de Monaco, and luxury fashion giant Louis Vuitton, marking the first time the famous street race has adopted a title sponsor in this manner.
Despite the updated branding, the essence of the Monaco Grand Prix remains unchanged. The event will continue to be staged on the legendary streets of Monte Carlo, where drivers navigate the narrow and unforgiving circuit that has become synonymous with Formula 1 history. The race has been a regular fixture on the championship calendar since 1955, with only the 2020 edition absent due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The rebranding forms part of Formula 1’s expanding relationship with luxury conglomerate LVMH, the parent company of Louis Vuitton. Organisers believe the partnership aligns naturally with Monaco’s reputation as one of the world’s most prestigious sporting and lifestyle destinations. Extensive Louis Vuitton branding is expected to feature throughout the circuit and race weekend as part of the agreement.
The 2026 edition will also mark another important milestone for the event. Monaco’s race weekend has moved to June as part of Formula 1’s efforts to optimise the calendar and improve logistical efficiency across the championship. The revised schedule is expected to reduce clashes with other major motorsport events while supporting the sport’s broader sustainability goals.
Formula 1 has already published the official 2026 calendar and timetable under the race’s new title, confirming that the Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Grand Prix de Monaco will take place from June 5-7 around the historic Circuit de Monaco.
