Southampton’s start to the 2024/25 Premier League season has been challenging, with the team yet to secure a point, much like a struggling Everton side, whom the Saints defeated in the EFL Cup earlier in the week.

Southampton rank 1st in the Premier League for one thing, it will have one huge long-term benefit

Although Southampton showed some signs of improvement in the first 30 minutes of their recent league match against Manchester United, a missed penalty by Cameron Archer turned the game in the visitors’ favor.

While there’s been a noticeable gap in Southampton’s performances this season, one key aspect of their game stands out and could benefit them significantly in the long run.

Southampton currently rank as the top Premier League team in a particular statistic. Although this adds to the challenges for manager Russell Martin, the potential rewards for the Saints could be significant.
