SAD NEWS: Brighton Former Midfielder’s wife makes heartbreaking statement after ex-Premier League star dies aged 39

Sol Bamba’s wife, Chloe, has shared a heartfelt tribute following the former Premier League defender’s death at the age of 39. Bamba, who had been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2021 and declared cancer-free just months later, sadly passed away on August 31 after a sudden downturn in his health while working for Turkish club Adanaspor.

In her emotional Instagram post, Chloe reflected on her husband’s bravery during his battle with cancer, noting his mental and physical strength. She wrote, “For the last few years I have watched Sol fight his cancer head on with an astounding mental and physical strength and stoicism. Unfortunately, it was never a fair fight.”

Chloe shared the bittersweet moments they experienced during these difficult years, expressing her deep love and admiration for Sol, saying, “It was an honour to have loved and been loved by Sol. I learnt so much from him. He is my hero.” Her words poignantly convey the pain of losing him, while celebrating the love and joy they shared.

Bamba, who was born in France to Ivorian parents, began his football journey at Paris Saint-Germain’s academy before playing for clubs such as Dunfermline, Hibernian, Leicester City, Leeds United, Cardiff City, and Middlesbrough. He was well-loved in the football community, particularly for his time with Cardiff City during their Premier League campaign in the 2018/19 season under manager Neil Warnock. His strength and courage, both on and off the pitch, leave behind a lasting legacy.
