A player in his twenties, whose identity is withheld for legal reasons, was apprehended at a nightclub in Brighton on Wednesday morning. Additionally, a man in his forties was also taken into custody and has been granted conditional bail. According to a statement from Sussex Police, “A man in his forties and a man in his twenties, both residents of Brighton, were arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and have been released on conditional bail until November 3 while investigations are ongoing. The victim is receiving specialized support from officers.” Furthermore, a statement from Brighton & Hove Albion indicated, “The club is aware that one of its players is cooperating with the police in relation to an alleged offense. Due to the ongoing legal process, the club is unable to provide further comments at this time.”
