Aston Villa can repeat Bailey masterclass by signing “incredibly fast” gem

Aston Villa is considering a move for a Bundesliga striker. Recently, Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg revealed that both Chelsea and Aston Villa have made offers to acquire German striker Maximilian Beier from Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga. Although an offer has been made, negotiations with the club have not commenced yet. With a release clause of €30m (£25m), Beier could be a cost-effective addition for Villa this summer. The club has a history of successfully recruiting players from the German top flight, as demonstrated by Leon Bailey’s performance last season. Despite losing players like Douglas Luiz and Moussa Diaby, Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has been successful in strengthening his squad during this transfer window.

With just under a month left of the summer transfer window, Emery might need to bring in another one or two players to add some depth to his side, especially as European commitments could drain the team.

Aston Villa are considering a potential move for a Bundesliga striker. Recently, Florian Plettenberg, a reporter for Sky Sports Germany, revealed that both Chelsea and Aston Villa have made offers to acquire Maximilian Beier, a German forward. Despite the offer being made, negotiations with the club have not commenced yet. Beier’s release clause stands at €30m (£25m), making him an affordable option for Monchi and his team this summer. Villa has a track record of successfully recruiting players from the German top flight in recent years, as demonstrated by Leon Bailey’s performance last season, highlighting the potential for discovering talented players on the continent.

After 28 goals in 119 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen during his spell in Germany, it looked as though Bailey would be an impressive signing for the club.

Notwithstanding this, his initial two seasons in England proved to be underwhelming. Bailey managed to score merely six goals in 54 appearances across all competitions, which did little to validate the substantial financial investment. However, a transformation occurred in the 2023/24 season, as Emery

successfully harnessed the winger’s potential. Bailey experienced the most fruitful league season of his career in terms of goals, scoring 10 times, while his overall tally reached 14 goals, complemented by an additional 14 assists from the right flank.

Bailey was second among his teammates in the Premier League for both goals and assists (19), as well as third for shots on target per game (0.5). Additionally, he ranked second for big chances created (12) and successful dribbles per game (1.6), demonstrating his impressive attacking skills during his debut for Villa.
