Celtic “must” win both titles this year in light of Rangers’ severe form collapse.

Frank McAvennie, a former Hoops and West Ham United striker, in an exclusive interview with Football Insider, stated that Brendan Rodgers’ team should feel confident going into their Scottish Cup semi-final against Aberdeen on Saturday afternoon, April 20.

Philippe Clement’s team has only managed two points in their past three games, most recently a 0-0 draw against Dundee on Wednesday night (17 April), giving the Hoops a three-point advantage at the top of the league.

Although Rangers’ wild season appears to be coming to an end, they still have a chance to advance to their second cup final if they defeat Hearts at Hampden Park on Sunday afternoon (April 21).

After Rangers’ troubles, Celtic need a domestic double – McAvennie

Nevertheless, McAvennie stated that anything less than a double would be a failure and that if the Celtic team did not benefit from their competitors’ decline in form, then there would be “something wrong” with the team.

He told Football Insider, “Celtic should feel really confident going into the semi-final against Aberdeen.”

“There’s a problem with them if they don’t improve after Rangers’ recent performance.

“Suddenly, Celtic has everything back in their hands, and they must win the double. They cannot afford to lose.”

To be honest, I would be shocked if they didn’t.

It would provide a significant boost.

According to insiders, Celtic suffered a “huge” transfer blow following a £20 million development.
