Former Celtic defender living in a hotel after ‘health issues’ following Hoops exit

It’s safe to say that Carl Starfelt’s journey to Celta Vigo has not been easy. He departed Celtic during the summer transfer window of 2023.

Ever since he fled to Spain, he has battled health challenges, the most of which have been brought on by mold and moisture in his house, which has made it difficult for him to breathe and keep a normal sleep routine. Now, he has given up on his house and is living in a traveling bar.

Starfelt has been able to help Los Celestes out at the back despite his problems this season. The Swedish international has made 23 La Liga appearances thus far this season, tallying one goal in the process.

What was Carl Starfelt’s statement at Celta Vigo regarding his health issue?

Starfelt stated, “In the beginning I got sick all the time, four or five times a month,” in an interview with Swedish media sources. I felt really exhausted, had problems breathing through my nose, and other similar symptoms. That wasn’t a time of fun.

“I made an effort to identify it. I made dietary and sleep changes, among other changes. But after that, I was able to identify it. The roof had a hole in it. Furthermore, Vigo is already moist. Thus, it most likely retained more moisture and developed a serious mold problem.

It was novel and unlike anything I had ever encountered. I have spent the previous month and a half living in a motel right now. It feels a lot better. I’m fully recovered now. Even when the mold is eradicated, I refuse to relocate back there. I will try to locate something else. If not, I’ll spend the remainder of the season in a hotel.
