According to the school, Patrick McCaffery, a forward for Iowa and the son of coach Fran McCaffery, has recently joined the transfer portal. Patrick McCaffery has one season of eligibility remaining after participating in 123 games for the Hawkeyes over the past four and a half seasons.

McCaffery boasts career averages of 8.5 points and 3.1 rebounds, having started 60 games. Throughout this season, his performance statistics include an average of 8.9 points and 2.8 rebounds in a total of 31 games, with 15 of those games being starts. In the 2022-23 season, McCaffery temporarily stepped away from his duties for six games to specifically treat his anxiety concerns. McCaffery, who stands at a height of 6 feet and 9 inches, performed really well in the final game of the season. He scored 19 points by making 7 out of 9 shots. Unfortunately, his team lost 91-82 to Utah in the second round of the NIT tournament.

He achieved a score below ten in each of the preceding six games. Earlier in the week, Iowa guard Tony Perkins also entered the gateway. He placed second on the squad in scoring at 14.0 points per game and delivered a club-best 4.6 assists per contest. Fran McCaffery just concluded his 14th season as Iowa coach. He is the winningest coach in school history and has a 280-191 record. The Hawkeyes concluded this season with a 19-15 record.
