SAD NEWS : Young Rangers fan dies in Lisbon after Europa League clash with Benfica

Thomas McAllister, 25, passed away in Lisbon on Thursday.

Before his death, Thomas McAllister, 25, was posting pictures of himself and close friends on social media ahead of his side’s 2-2 draw with Benfica. However, tragedy struck in the Portuguese capital as friends and family back home in Scotland were told the devastating news that he had passed away during the trip. Tributes have flooded in for the young Rangers fan who passed away in Lisbon on Thursday while travelling with friends to support the Ibrox football club.

Although the cause of Thomas’s death is presently unknown, friends and relatives reacted quickly to his passing on social media. His dear club also offered their thoughts on his untimely demise.

“It is with profound sadness Rangers FC has been informed that supporter Thomas McAllister passed away in Lisbon following last night’s UEFA Europa League tie with Benfica,” a statement from the team said.

“The immediate thoughts of everyone at the club are with Thomas’ family and friends, and we will remain in constant contact with both the Portuguese and British authorities over this tragic incident.”
