Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers recently addressed speculation surrounding Alex Valle’s loan situation during his pre-Kilmarnock press conference.
Valle, who joined Celtic from Barcelona on a season-long loan this summer, has made a strong impression at Parkhead, featuring in nine matches and providing three assists. While competing with Greg Taylor for the left-back position, the young La Masia graduate has shown adaptability and maturity, contributing to both defensive and attacking play.
Reports emerged this week indicating that Barcelona might be interested in recalling Valle due to his impressive form at Celtic. However, Rodgers clarified that he has received no information suggesting Barcelona could cut Valle’s loan short in January. Speaking to Sky Sports, he addressed the rumors, stating, “Not that I’m aware of, no. Nobody has told me any different. Alex has enjoyed his time here and has been very important on and off the pitch. We wouldn’t want to lose him.”
Rodgers also praised the valuable experience Valle is gaining, particularly through Champions League and domestic games, noting how the young player is benefitting from his time in Glasgow.
It seems unlikely Valle will be returning to Barcelona early, as his focus remains on securing a regular place in Celtic’s starting lineup. The 20-year-old Spain U19 international has seamlessly adapted to life at Celtic, bringing both maturity and an attacking mindset from the left flank. As he continues to develop in a supportive environment, Valle is poised to grow further during his spell at Celtic.
