Nicolas Kuhn delivered an outstanding performance this week as Celtic triumphed over RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
The German winger amazed the crowd at Parkhead with a beautiful curled shot into the top corner, equalizing after Christoph Baumgartner had opened the scoring for Leipzig with a header from a corner.
Kuhn then netted his second Champions League goal of the evening—and the season—by making a quick run to be in position for a Greg Taylor cut-back, showcasing his sense for goal. Though he missed a golden opportunity in the second half when his shot sailed over the crossbar, his two goals contributed significantly to Celtic’s win.
Despite a lack of recognition from some German media, Kuhn had a breakout night in Glasgow, continuing a superb season with nine goals and 10 assists in just 16 appearances. He has been an instrumental player for Brendan Rodgers’ team, showing significant improvement over last season.
UEFA included Kuhn in their Champions League Team of the Week, alongside notable players such as Viktor Gyökeres, for his impressive display on matchday four of the competition.
In addition to Kuhn, the team featured stars like Mike Maignan in goal for AC Milan, Nahuel Molina, Isak Hien, Thilo Kehrer, and Alphonso Davies in defense, with Pierre Lees-Melou, Malik Tillman, and Luis Diaz joining Kuhn in midfield, and Karim Konate and Gyökeres leading the attack.
