Despite Celtic’s impressive 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig in the Champions League, the week has not been without its concerns off the pitch, as reports suggest that both Greg Taylor’s and potentially Nicolas Kuhn’s futures at the club are in doubt.
It looked like Celtic’s week couldn’t get any better after their dominant 6-0 win over Aberdeen, which sent a clear message to their title rivals as they reached the Scottish League Cup final. Then came the Champions League triumph over Leipzig, cementing their spot at the top of the group. But away from the field, things are not as rosy, with the Scottish Premiership champions potentially facing a double blow in 2025.
Greg Taylor’s future is one of the key worries, with reports suggesting that contract talks have stalled, and the left-back could leave the club on a free transfer in the summer of 2025. He may not be the only one to depart, however. According to reports in Spain, Premier League side Crystal Palace have already shown interest in signing Nicolas Kuhn, who has been in sensational form recently, notably scoring twice against Leipzig in the Champions League. This comes on the heels of last season’s departure of Matt O’Riley to Brighton & Hove Albion, another player who left Celtic for the Premier League.
Kuhn only joined Celtic in January from Rapid Vienna, but he is already making a big impact. After struggling to settle in initially, scoring just twice in nine Scottish Premiership appearances last season, Kuhn has come into his own. A strong pre-season has seen the winger shine, with his pace and versatility now fully evident. Brendan Rodgers has praised his progress, noting that the player, who struggled with fitness issues last winter, is now showing more variety in his game, capable of both cutting inside and out.
With nine goals and 10 assists in just 16 games this season, Kuhn has become one of Celtic’s standout performers. His form has clearly caught the eye, with Premier League clubs like Crystal Palace now circling. If both Taylor and Kuhn were to leave, it would deal another significant blow to Rodgers’ squad, potentially seeing two key players depart within a short time frame.
