Celtic’s impressive 3-1 victory over RB Leipzig on Tuesday has elevated them to new heights in the UEFA Champions League as they reach the midway point of the group stage.
The win secured their position in 15th place in the standings, with Matchday 4 concluding last night. Other notable results came from Club Brugge, Atletico Madrid, and Brest, who all secured important wins.
At the halfway mark, Celtic have accumulated seven points with a goal difference of zero from their first four matches, placing them ahead of top European clubs such as Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Milan, Atletico Madrid, PSG, and RB Leipzig.
According to Opta statistics, teams with 10 points generally progress to the last 16, so with remaining home games against Club Brugge and Young Boys, plus away fixtures against Dinamo Zagreb and Aston Villa, Celtic are in a strong position to achieve that target.
Their solid start to the group stage has exceeded expectations, and with the toughest fixtures now behind them, Celtic will be encouraged by their results so far. While Club Brugge and Dinamo could pose challenges, Brendan Rodgers and his players will be pleased with their campaign to date.
However, attention now shifts back to domestic matters, as Celtic prepare to face Kilmarnock at Rugby Park this weekend.
