On Tuesday night (5 November), Celtic made an impressive comeback to defeat RB Leipzig 3-1 at Celtic Park in the Champions League. Despite a previous heavy loss to Borussia Dortmund, Celtic have performed well so far in the tournament, with two wins and a draw in their first four games. They now sit level on points with major European clubs like Manchester City, Arsenal, Juventus, and Inter Milan.
After conceding first when Leipzig capitalized on a defensive error from a corner, Celtic turned the game around with a standout performance by Nicolas Kuhn. The German winger, attracting interest from Premier League teams, scored a stunning equalizer just before halftime, making it 2-1. In the second half, Reo Hatate added a third goal, securing a crucial victory for the team.
The *Daily Record* described Kuhn as “prolific,” “a thing of beauty,” and “fabulous,” awarding him a 9/10 for his performance.
Celtic have reached new heights in this Champions League season, with Kuhn, in particular, delivering a memorable performance against his former club. His goal featured a brilliant move, cutting inside to curl the ball past the Leipzig goalkeeper, reminiscent of Mohamed Salah’s signature strikes.
The victory was underscored by Celtic’s fast, high-energy play. Manager Brendan Rodgers, who often gets frustrated with slower build-ups, saw his team play with purpose and intensity, leaving Leipzig struggling to respond.
Callum McGregor, Hatate, and Auston Trusty were also key contributors, with Trusty delivering an exceptional performance.
