Excitement is building around Arne Engels, as one of Celtic’s leaders is thrilled by the young talent’s impact, which often goes unnoticed. The Belgian midfielder, who cost Celtic £11 million, is proving to be a valuable investment, according to his teammate Cameron Carter-Vickers.
Carter-Vickers praised Engels’ skillful delivery during a recent semi-final, crediting him for setting up an easy header that ended his own scoring drought. The defender remarked, “It was a great ball with perfect whip from Arne, making it almost impossible for me to miss. It felt amazing, as I rarely get on the scoresheet.”
Engels’ impressive displays since his move from Wolfsburg highlight not only his finesse but also his commitment to tough, defensive work. Carter-Vickers noted, “I’ve seen his off-the-ball work; he’s strong and has the energy to play box-to-box in midfield.”
Meanwhile, Carter-Vickers is eager to stay healthy and play consistently in the Champions League, where he has missed several matches since joining Celtic. Reflecting on his injury struggles, he shared, “I want to be out there as much as possible. I was in a good rhythm before needing a break, but I’m determined to keep fit and contribute throughout the season.” He recalled playing through a toe injury in a game against St Mirren to be ready for the match against Rangers, pushing through the pain until the international break allowed him some rest.
