Tottenham’s teenage talent Archie Gray is eagerly anticipating the chance to face Rangers in their Europa League fixture on Thursday, December 12 at Ibrox.
The 18-year-old, who grew up a Celtic supporter, has marked the match date on his calendar. Since joining Spurs from Leeds United in a high-profile £30 million transfer last summer, most of Gray’s appearances under former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou have come in European competitions.
Despite having a family legacy in Scottish football—his father Frank and uncle Eddie both played for Scotland—Gray, who has represented England at the under-21 level, may have the chance to play in Scotland next month for the Rangers clash.
Having attended an Old Firm derby in the past, Gray commented on the prospect of playing at Ibrox: “As a Celtic fan, you always keep an eye out for the Rangers game. The chance to play at Ibrox is special, and I can’t wait.”
Currently, Spurs are in a commanding position in their Europa League group, having won their first three matches against Qarabag, Ferencvaros, and AZ Alkmaar. They will face Galatasaray in Istanbul next Thursday. Meanwhile, Rangers, who have notched wins over Malmo and FCSB but suffered a home loss to Lyon, are set to take on Olympiakos in Piraeus next week.
